Here is the latest news on down payment assistance programs for Jacksonville and Orange Park FL homebuyers.
The Headstart to Home ownership or H2H as it is also called has been renewed for Jacksonville FL residents! The income limits for this program have been lifted from 80% of median household income to 120%. This means a family of 4 may earn up to $78,120 and still be eligible for assistance. The down payment assistance amount is up to $15,000 with an additional $5,000 for targeted areas in Jacksonville, FL. Unfortunately this program has been placed on hold until around October 15 2010 unless you already have funds reserved.
The FHLBank Atlanta's First-time Homebuyer Program (FHP)or "match money" program is currently active for Jacksonville FL and Orange Park FL residents! This program provides $5 for every $1 you place towards your real estate transaction up to $7,500 for moderate to low income residents. We have been waiting on funding for this program for quite some time so I am really excited about it being back. Keep in mind that once these funds are gone they are gone.
"Florida Bond Money" is still available as well with up to $7,500 in down payment and closing cost assistance. This program is administered by the Florida Housing Finance Corporation.
The Jacksonville Neighborhood Stabilization Program or NSP is still going strong but slated to end on August 15, 2010. This programs provides up to $40,000 towards the purchase of a newly renovated home. These homes are renovated to "nearly new" status and include energy star appliances.There are still many great homes available for purchase.
The Federal homebuyer tax credit has ended however it is still available for service members. It still provides for up to $8,000 for first time buyers and up to $6,500 for current owners wishing to purchase. You may click here for additional details.
